Good morning!
Our viewpoint of people will always be directly impacted by how much or how little we are willing to filter life’s interactions through biblical instruction (Romans 12:2).
When we successfully filter our actions through Christ, it can change us from thinking and acting like a common person and instead behave like an uncommon person (1 Peter 2:9).
We submit ourselves to God to arrive at God ordained uncommon outcomes. Outcomes where we can see God’s fingerprints and His solutions plastered all over our situation(s).
Conversely, when we don’t submit to God, only our fingerprints will be found plastered all over our life situation(s) in addition to our not locating Godly solutions to our issues.
Psalm 118:8 – It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
Barnes notes on the Bible points out the word “law” in verse 18 is used to denote “All” that God had revealed to mankind.
He goes on to say this about the truths taught in verse 18:
(1) These are deep, hidden, secret things in the word of God, which are not perceived by the natural (common) man;
(2) That those things, when understood, are suited to excite wonder, or to fill the mind with admiring (uncommon) views of God;
(3) That a special illumination of God is necessary so that man may perceive these things; and
(4) That the proper understanding of these things is connected with prayer and can be hoped for only in answer to prayer.
Finally, he points out that people can’t have the proper appreciation of divine truth, or beauty, or spiritual meaning until they become a renewed and praying person.
Let us strive to become uncommon among all that is considered common. Pressing in and onward to become the salt and light in the earth and reflecting God’s likeness to those around us daily.
May your day be an uncommonly good one in the Lord!
