Good morning!
In this verse, the prophet Micah answers the question of the people of Israel. They wanted to know what to do to make up for all of the wrongs they had done toward God.
They were willing to go as far as to kill and burn their own children for God. The thing is, God never asked or required that from them.
Today people still go to extremes God never asked or required of them.
Micah’s reply to them (And us) is the same basic answer today as it was back then. (Hebrews 13:8–Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.) And while the basics can be simple, they are often found to not always be so easy to do. But, by faith (Which is how we are to live) it can be done.
Below are the basic Godly principles Micah tells us to do:
- Do wrong to none, but do right to all. Love mercy and delight in it as our God does.
- Walk humbly with God and make it our constant care and business to please him.
- Conform ourselves to the will of God (Romans 12:2) and study to approve ourselves to him in our integrity. Present our bodies daily as a sacrifice to God by crucifying our flesh and renewing our minds. (Romans 12:1-3)
- Finally, learning to bring every thought (2 Cor. 10:5) within us into obedience to God.
Sadly, some Believers don’t behave as well as heathens. Some even make the heathen look good by comparison (See James 1:26).
Let us strive to serve God in the basics of simplicity, loyalty, and reverence. Not through vain, non-requested, or non-required behavior.
Have a successful back-to-basics day in His service!
