Good Morning!
When considering the possibillity of needing to go to war, a good leader knows that obtaining input on that decision from trusted counselors is a must. This meeting of the minds can help properly weigh how the decision to proceed to war will likely play out.
At first glance, this verse appears limited to being used by kings, presidents, rulers, or world leaders. Wrong! This tactic in Proverbs has both natural and spiritual warfare connotations that we should apply to our lives daily!
It is not unusual to hear some people describe their daily Christian experience/life/walk/race as sometimes similar to a battle. That should be no huge surprise. More than 100 Bible verses make reference to the term warfare.
Here is a but a brief list of common issues people battle with daily that they need solutions for:
Finances, bad doctor reports, spouses, In-Laws, the-Ex, weight issues, addictions, bad neighbors, bosses, a co-worker(s), poor diets, sickness, children, loss of employment, relationships, etc.
When looked at closey, in reality a fair amount of adult life playes out in battlies over making decisions. Decisions that require making hard choices. Choices greatly influenced by our inner stuggle between light and darkness and the powerful influence of compromise when it comes down to choosing between good and evil.
Matthew 13:38 – The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the tares are the children of the wicked one.
Remember, we should expect to face battles to fight off temptations. Temptations that can lead us to foolishly give back territory we had previously worked so hard to win back from the enemy.
Let us strive to be like a wise king who prayerfully seeks the counsel of the Lord and wise counsel from those around him before deciding to go to war.
James 1:5 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…
Matthew 15:14 – Stay away from those Pharisees! They are like blind people leading other blind people, and all of them will fall into a ditch.
Have a terrific day in the wisdom of God’s word!
