Good morning!
Have you ever noticed how an Olympic runner is only focused on the finish line after the gun goes off? They are not focused on if they may lose or by how much? Neither are they worried about what kind of color shoes the opposing runners are wearing.
In like manner, we too must remain focused on what really counts in this life, refusing to be slowed down by distractions or failures from our past.
Paul expresses that no one is perfect. He states we can’t let our past failures keep us from running the Christian race. He advises it is only in Christ that we can ask and obtain the forgiveness (By repentance) needed to move on from our mistakes.
Paul also emphasizes the term “One thing”! Why? Because there will always be one or more things (Life issues) trying to steal our focus. And if our focus becomes divided, we then become double-minded as is stated in James 1:8. Unfortunately, that confused type of mindset will negatively impact virtually everything we try to do.
Let us strive to keep our focus by refusing to let our past dictate our future.
Ephesians 1:7 – In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.
Have a terrific day in His tender mercies!
