Good morning!
One of the changes we may notice about people is when they have obtained new clothes a/k/a a new wardrobe. That’s because clothes can give a person the ability to quickly change their general appearance.
In Colossians 3:12, the Apostle Paul explains that after we become a new creation in Christ (Born again-John 3:3), we are to clothe ourselves “Spiritually.” with God’s inspired tender mercies of kindness, humility, meekness, and long-suffering.
When we say the old (Our unsaved self) man (Ephesians 4:22) has been put off, and the new man (Born again – dedicated to a new life in Christ) has been put on, we are simply stating we are changing our “Moral Apparel” from the old man to the new man.
Charles Spurgeon noted that pilots, soldiers, and athletes dress the part for their roles. He then points out that as representatives of Christ, we too should also dress in a way (Spiritually speaking) that helps us to better fulfill our roles in the Kingdom of God.
In effect, Colossians 3:12 is letting us know our new moral attire must reflect we are now conforming to the image of the God that created us.
Let us strive this day to be correctly spiritually dressed so we can be a blessing to everyone God puts in our path!
