Good morning!
One of the early lessons I was taught growing up was if you talk nice to people, it will increase your odds of them being agreeable with you.
This verse describes how soft words delivered in kind tones can remove hardness and roughness from the minds of those who hear them. Soft-spoken utterances work to influence and bend the wills of those who are obstinate and stubborn. Making the person easier to work with.
Believers aren’t perfect, so we must work on learning to display and dispense the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) as living examples for God toward our fellow humans.
We are aware some of our fellow humans have the ability at times to bait us into looking like anything but a child of God. Knowing this, we shouldn’t be quick to feel like a failure. Instead, it’s much better to sincerely repent and start afresh. (John 1:9)
Words have a life of their own and are like tiny containers carrying one of two things. Either life or death. They will build people up or tear them down. We choose which it will be!
Let us practice walking daily in God’s word and pattern ourselves after Jesus. Letting the Holy Spirit train our hearts to guide our mouths to speak to others in a manner pleasing to God.
In time, we will better learn to use the love of God in our (words) conversations to disarm and diffuse hostile situations and not be the ones who instigated the problem. This gives God a chance to show Himself as mighty in our lives!
Proverbs 15:1 -A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
Father, thank you for empowering us to be blessed and triumphant through this day! Amen!
