Good Morning!
Many of us have lived or worked in places where we either learned the hard way or were forewarned not to open certain doors, windows, databases, or areas. The reason was that once it was opened, it was extremely difficult to get closed again without major effort or would allow the possible escape of critical information.
Ephesians 5:15 is saying we should be incredibly careful about how we live from day to day. That should include who and what we let have access to our hearts while also considering what types of activities we allow into our lives.
Once certain doors are opened, they can be very detrimental to not only our spiritual health but also to our physical, financial, and social health in so many ways as well. Many times, it takes more time, energy, and expense than we planned to get that thing closed and out of our lives.
Scripture warns us that our “feelings” can dupe us into doing things that we know better not to do. That is because the spirit and the flesh remain contrary one to the other (Galatians 5:17). So, without a higher strength than our own, we can be easily subject to failure when that “just say no moment” rolls around.
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Let us strive to remain spiritually rooted and grounded by God’s word and be careful about who and what we let access our hearts.
1 Peter 5:8 (ESV) 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Have a spiritually cautious and aware day with the help of The Holy Spirit!
