Good morning!
The word tradition is defined here as the transmission of beliefs or customs from one generation to another. Or as a long-established custom that has been passed on.
Basically, a tradition is viewed as something important and worthwhile. Obviously, some traditions are good while others likely need to be done away with.
Historically, people generally tend to either make good use of traditions or abuse them.
Traditions also imply longevity as they have been around for a while. Again, it can be observed that either good or bad traditions can last for a long time. Unfortunately, by holding to bad traditions, we tend to perpetuate that which is not good (Matthew 15:6).
The idea of “stand fast” that is spoken about means to take a firm stand on something and be solid in your choice. As a believer without spiritual stability, we can’t help but slowly sink into the quicksand of human philosophy that encases this world’s system. Paul firmly states from verse 2 forward that we must be spiritually stable in order not to be “shaken in our mind or troubled.”
1 Corinthians 16:13- Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong!
Let us strive this day to stand fast in the faith! Remaining strong and stable despite these darkening and troubling times!
