Good morning!
There was a point where John the Baptist acquired a good deal of followers while laying the groundwork for the coming Messiah.
John 29-30 tells how the Best Man at a wedding is happy for both the groom and the bride at the ceremony. He is not trying to be the front and center of attention. He wants all of the attention to be focused on them.
Although he attracted followers, John was not disappointed when people began to follow Jesus over him. He actually encouraged people to become disciples of Christ, letting it be known that Christ was the one they should focus their attention on.
William Carey was a noted great missionary pioneer. As he lay dying, he reportedly turned to his friend saying, “When I am gone, don’t talk about William Carey: talk about William Carey’s Savior. I desire that Christ alone be magnified.”
Let us strive to do as Romans 12:3 says and not think more highly of ourselves than we should. Letting the love and character of Christ within us increase and the (Fleshly) self-centered part of us decrease.
Praying your day is Christ-centered to its core!
