Good morning!
Years ago, my wife and I grew tired of buying bottled water, so we purchased a highly-rated water filtering machine. Although the unit works slowly if necessary it is powerful enough to filter untreated water from lakes, streams, and stagnant ditches. With up to 60% of our body being made of water, clean, pure water is essential to our health and well-being.
The Bible refers to the human heart as our emotional, spiritual, and mental center. It is the director of our lives. Where it goes, we follow.
Jeremiah is warning us how impure and evil men’s/women’s hearts are. If you doubt it, turn on the daily local, national, or world news.
Just as clean water is critical to our health, a pure heart is vital to a life free from the guilt and the shame of sin and will also limit our desire and ability to serve God.
We must work to let the cleansing power of God’s Word filter out our heart’s evil intentions. Allowing its cleansing properties and promises to remove every sinful pathogen and impurity that burdens us.
James 3:11 – Can clean water and dirty water both flow from the same spring?
Let us strive to give God’s word the time and access needed to effectively sift and filter out whatever contaminants are slowly poisoning our lives. Yes, it will take time and effort, but just know that the end result will be more than worth it.
May your day be made pure through the sifting power of His Word!
