Good morning!
The trouble with our mouths is they can get us in trouble in so many ways. If we only took time to weigh what we are about to say before we say it, we could likely avoid many of life’s troubles.
Psalms 141:3 – Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Our mouths will never be more disciplined than we’ve trained our minds to be. One of the best forms of self-defense to keeping our mouth under control is to keep our thought life under control.
It can be hard to do in today’s world, where we must be aware that almost everything we say and do is being recorded in some form of an electronic medium. This leaves us vulnerable to having something we might have said being used against us later.
Proverbs 17:28 – Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.
Let us strive to be more Holy Spirit-controlled than flesh controlled by pausing to think and consider what we say before we say it.
Proverbs 12:18 – There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing.
May the Lord assist us in meticulously monitoring our mouths througout this day!
