Trusting With Our Head or With Our Heart?

Dec 22, 2024

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NASB) 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Good morning!

One of the most difficult habits to overcome is to learn to trust the judgment of God over and above the judgment of the non-renewed areas of our minds. What God thinks and desires for us will always be superior to what we think and desire for ourselves.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

In essence, what our old mindset continually does and really cannot help but do is lead us down long and wrong paths in life.

Until we become sold out to continually renew our minds in every area (Romans 12:1-2) we can’t help but fall prey to mistakes that will cause us grief.

What we see in Proverbs 3:5-6 is a scriptural promise. But, it is contingent on our obedience. Being obedient to God will always lead to an excellent outcome.

In summary, if we follow what God asks of us, we can expect the following:

. Peaceful decisions
. God’s guidance
. Less time wandering aimlessly around in life

Let us strive to press in daily to become so familiar with God that His ways easily overshadow our ways, and His thoughts override our thoughts. In time, this will guide us to a level of peace that will make life in general much more enjoyable.

Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

May our trust in the Lord make our day a pleasant and peaceful one!
