WAITING WITH EXPECTATION? OR JUST WAITING?

Jan 24, 2025

Isaiah 40:30-31(ESV) 30. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31. but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Good morning!

Barnes’s commentary states that the words “wait upon” used here (from קוה qâvâh), denotes to wait, in the sense of expecting. The phrase, “To wait on Yahweh,” means to wait for his help; or in essence, trust in him or put our hope or confidence in him.

This type of “Wait” applies to any Believer in dark or dangerous circumstances and looking to God for his merciful intervention.

While Isaiah 40:30-31 refers to those who suffered captivity in Babylon with no hope of deliverance (Except by God), the phrase can also apply to those of us who feel weak, feeble, guilty, and helpless in our troubles. But, by faith, we still place our trust in Yahweh while we await His assistance.

Let us strive to rely on God’s promises while we wait for Him to move upon our situation or work on us and the things that need transforming within us.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

Praise the Lord for renewing our strength. A strength that empowers us to keep moving forward by faith while we await divine intervention or divine deliverance in our life!
