Good morning!
The use of discretion is an issue that a large number of people seem to struggle with. Unfortunately, we humans can be slow to realize that we are lacking it.
One of the keys to applying discretion is having the wisdom to know that you need to do so. Understanding is gained when we not only allow the Word of God to enter our hearts but also readily apply its principles.
Proverbs 4:7 instructs us that “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Discretion is an integral part of wisdom that is not taught by institutions, the media, or too many other places. Including some churches.
Fortunately, God has gifted us with Proverbs, which are full of instructions on how we can gain wisdom, discretion, and understanding. Skills we are told in verse 11 that will help preserve our soul, life, and our assets.
It is a wise person who can distinguish the what, when, why, and how in countless ways and numerous circumstances before they make a decision. Such people will hold a distinct advantage over those who spend life guessing about what they should do!
Remember, discretionary knowledge helps protect us from silly errors, wicked persons, and even sin. Placing us in a position to not just have God’s best for us, but for those, we love as well.
Let us strive to apply everyday wisdom and knowledge located in Proverbs. This can’t help but protect us from many avoidable pains, troubles, and difficulties.
May your day be overflowing with wisdom and discretion!
