A CHRISTIAN CHURCH WITHOUT…CHRIST?

Jun 10, 2026

Revelation 3:20 (NASB) 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Good morning!

Revelation 3:20 speaks of Christ being outside an apostate church where He wanted to come in. His being able to enter could only happen if…the people repented.

While the invitation given here by Christ is to the entire assembly, it is still a personal invite since the salvation choice to individuals. If only one person (anyone) in the church assembly had chosen to open the door (By Repentance and Faith) Christ would enter that church through that individual.

Another incident to note is with the description of Christ being outside the Laodicean church seeking entrance. It strongly implies that unlike the church at Sardis (Rev. 3:1-6 where the believers had serious issues) this church appears to have no Believers there at all? A church without Christ?

Christ’s offer to dine with the repentant church speaks of fellowship, communion, and intimacy. Sharing a meal in ancient times symbolized the union of people in a loving fellowship.

Coming future events where Believers will dine with Christ will be at the marriage supper of the Lamb in Revelation 19:9, and in the millennial kingdom in Luke 22:16, 29-30.

The word dine is from deipneō, which refers to the evening or last meal of the day. The Lord Jesus Christ urged them to repent and have fellowship with Him before the night of judgment arrived since afterwards it would be too late!

Let us strive to be sure we remain in fellowship with our Lord. Staying so close to Him that
Praying that you have a magnificent Christ minded day!
