AFRAID TO ASK?

Sep 14, 2026

Matthew 7:7-8 (NKJV) 7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Good Morning!

Sometimes people appear to think they need to persuade God to answer their prayers, while others pray without expecting God to hear them, let alone answer their prayers.

The “Ask” word used in this verse is (Aiteo) which explains how to go about asking. It means we are to (Pray) ask with a sense of urgency while remaining humble. We are to make our plea earnest, but always realize we are petitioning God as someone from a lesser position.

While it may seem strange to have to explain what the word ask means in this instance, it is the asking point where many people often lose their way in the prayer process. We have to learn how to make our asking process with God no different than how we ask questions of others. Is it not uncommon that we ask questions and expect a response to follow?

As children of the Most High, (Psalm 47:2) we have to learn to believe that as His children, we have a right to approach (Hebrews 4:16) God in prayer for answers to life’s many challenges.

James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Let us remember that while our Heavenly Father knows what we need before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8), we can’t afford to be too afraid to ask (Silly request not included) Him for help. Asking is as much an integral part of a close relationship as communication, mercy, forgiveness, protection, communion, emotional support, and nurturing.

May the Lord provide you guidance and direction for every challenge you face today!
