Good morning!

In modern society, a Christian’s lack of a close walk with God renders them unable to recognize a true work of God from a counterfeit. Kaufmann Kohler, Ph.D., Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth-El, New York; writes how Jannes and Jambres are acknowledged in various historical writings as legendary wizards. Wizards who served happened to serve as Pharaoh’s top magicians/sorcerers/etc. However, in reality, they were simply emissaries of Satan.

If you study history closely you will interestingly find these sorcerer types were always found hanging around the Pharaohs (Those with significant worldwide influence) as is the case in our modern world as well. As is often the case, when it comes to people in general, certain behaviors never change.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 – What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

These two sorcerers attempted to prove that Moses was wrong and Pharaoh was right. They replicated each miracle God did through Moses (Exodus 7:11) until God used Moses and Aaron to bring the third plague upon Egypt where dust was turned into lice (Exodus 8:16-17).

Realizing their (Satanic) powers were limited and could not replicate turning dust into lice, the sorcerers told Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19).

The Bible warns avoiding being deceived by Satan is a concern every Christian should take seriously.

Revelation 12:9 – And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Let us strive to the best of our abilities to protect ourselves and everyone we care about from the trouble that occurs in life when we fail to recognize the genuine hand of God (His works) from the counterfeit works of Satan.

Have a blessed and alert day in the power of the Holy Spirit!
