Dealing with Detours on the Way to God’s Destiny!

Jun 25, 2026

Proverbs 2:6-9 (NLT) For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.

Good morning!

It can be frustrating when driving along on a long trip and making good time only to come upon signs advising you a detour going through various back roads are ahead due to road construction/repair etc.

Frankly, when I am taking these backroad detours if feels like time slows down. In the end, it feels like a lot of time was wasted in the re-routing back onto familiar highway.

Here in Proverbs 2:6-9 we are reminded that meaning can often be found in life’s detours. Similar to how a detour for a highway allows a highway to get upgrades or repairs, often the same can be said about life’s detours. And while life’s detours may not always be caused by God, God can still use our detours (If we let Him) to prod us toward grow and maturity on the road to our destiny.

God wants us to become established, mature life travelers who can share our maturing lessons with those who have yet to travel down nearly as many rough patches of the road of life we have.

I don’t think any anyone would ever give up their right to drive just because they ran into detours, bad roads, or missing street signs! Likewise, neither should a Believer stop pursuing the destiny God has for us due to life’s road getting rougher and full of detours.

Let us always strive to seek the wisdom of God and never forget the road of life will always be under construction.

Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Have a magnificent day on the road to God’s destiny!
