FROM TRIAL TO TRIUMPH!

Romans 8:28 (KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Good morning!

I found the following elaboration on Roman’s 8:28 from an older Our Daily Bread Devotional by J E Yoder. It gives a lovely summary as to why we can’t always see how God is working in our lives.

He tells the story of a shipwreck whereby the sole survivor reached a small, uninhabited island, where he prayed for God to rescue him, but help didn’t come. Eventually, he built a hut out of driftwood for protection from the elements.

One day he returned from scavenging for food and found his hut in flames, the smoke rising into the sky. Angrily he cried, “God, how could You do this to me?” The next morning he was awakened by rescuers. “How did you know I was here?” he asked. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.

J E Yoder goes on to remind us the next time it seems as if our last hope has gone up in smoke, remember what “we know” to be true (Romans 8:28). When God says that all things work together for good to those who love Him, He means all things – J E Yoder!

May the Lord grant us endurance by the stability of His word, to stand firm, and keep our faith active so we can see every trial through to a triumphant end!

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
