Good morning!
Here in Revelation, we see the spiritual status the church in Laodicea had evolved into. Unfortunately, it is the type of status we should aim to avoid.
The Laodicea believers had become overwhelmingly spiritually complacent. This happened when they became self-sufficient from acquired wealth. What they mistakenly had done was trade their spiritual effectiveness in Christ for a life of independent ease. Something that can still be easily done today without even having significant wealth!
To show how far they had fallen in their spiritual representation of Christ, their traditional enemies, and constant persecutor, the Jews stopped even bothering them.
They recognized the Laodicea believers had grown so ineffective and harmless to the point there was simply no need to even police their activities.
Let us learn from their actions and strive to keep our Christian witness from becoming perceived by those around us as similar to the way the Jews were perceived by the Laodicean Believers. That of not even being worth the effort of paying attention to!
Praying that our spiritual awareness will be like God would have it to be on today!
2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead,…they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
