Good morning!
Some of us don’t have trouble admitting how much we look forward to delighting ourselves in many foods and holiday activities this time of year. That’s basically due to our carnal nature being so easily pleased with tastes, sensations, and other stimuli that accompany those activities.
In Psalm 37:4 the Hebrew verb for DELIGHT (Anag) is a command that charges us to find our enjoyment in Jehovah. Another Hebrew word for delight (Chephets) means to bend toward or incline toward. It is a very fitting description of what our attitude should be toward our God!
When it comes to delighting ourselves in God and the things of God, it requires having a spiritual approach where we act as independent agents who nurture the spiritual component God has placed within us. That is what moves us forward in our spiritual lives.
Philippians 2:13 – for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
While enjoying food and festivities comes naturally to most people in general, some Believers may find that they have to learn to delight themselves in God and related Godly matters until it becomes an enjoyable experience. An experience that is looked forward to instead of possibly feeling like a chore or work needing to be done.
Let us strive to place ourselves in a position where our desire for the presence of God and spending time with Him grows stronger in our hearts by the day!
Psalm 42:2 – My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
May the joy of the Lord be with you as you walk through this day!
