Good morning!

A day that starts with meaning, hope, joy, and peace is a day that is enjoyable to live in and through. The Apostle Paul’s prayer in verse 13 is a powerful one. To experience a day filled with hope, joy, and peace requires that we do more than pray. We must also depend on God to impart His power and presence through us so that our day can come together in a successfully spiritual way. Regardless, of how many things may go wrong during the day.

In reality, in our own strength, we are only able to temporarily stir up a small degree of human hopefulness. However, what Paul is talking about in verse 13 is having a supernatural-based hopefulness.

When reading Ellicott’s Commentary, we read that hope, joy, and peace, form a triad which (Should) represent the attitude of the Christian. Our attitude as believers should be one that looks with such hope toward the future. A future that is reflected by our faith in God in the present.

Hope, joy, and peace depend on God’s Messianic promises. Meaning, for them to come alive and stay alive in our lives we have to follow the prerequisites given to us by God in His Word.

Let us strive to make sure hope, joy, and peace aren’t something we rarely see by putting ourselves in place to access them regularly.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
