Good morning!
It has been scientifically proven that anger can be dangerous in how it impacts our disposition, ability to function and our bodies as well. It can really prove dangerous to those who find themselves angry a lot.
I heard it said that being at or staying angry with someone is like drinking poison and somehow expecting the other person to get sick.
In James 1:19-20 we are told that if we slow down and allow ourselves to be God-directed instead of flesh-directed, we stand a greater chance of keeping our poise and remain walking in the righteousness of God.
Jon Bloom makes a good point about righteous anger. He says that righteous anger is being angry at what makes God angry. God is not fundamentally angry. He is fundamentally righteous which makes His anger a byproduct of his righteousness.
We being human on the other hand are different in our anger tendencies. If we don’t learn to keep it under control, in time it begins to control us which eventually leads to other serious problems.
Romans 8:12-13 – Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Let us strive to take to heart this wisdom from James 1:19-20. When we do, we become more likely to be known as a person characterized by righteous anger instead of sinful anger.
Praying that you righteous day in the Lord that finds you being slow to speak and slow to anger regardless of what you may face!
