Good morning!
Many people are familiar with how steam vapors above a boiling pot or tea kettle can appear and disappear quickly. One second they are there in various shapes and the POOF…within another second they are already gone. Already replaced by another vapor.
Like Billions of believers and non-believers, I plan to live to a ripe old age. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee in this fallen world that our plans will work out. That is the reality of living on this earth.
James is reminding us we need to occasionally stop and take the time to do a thorough spiritual assessment of ourselves. Prayerfully, that will assist us in making sure we are not living like we will always have a tomorrow.
Proverbs 27:1 – Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
James 4:14 points out how our life-span is similar to a vapor when viewed in the context of eternity. Here one second and gone the next. Sure, it can be hard to contemplate that we will not live forever on this troubled earth. Fortunately, if you have a relationship with God, although the thought is sobering, it should not be scary.
2 Corinthians 5:1 – For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Let us strive to live life to the fullest of our Godly potential. Never forgetting that life is similar to a vapor in that before we know it (Poof) we will be gone from here and into eternity.
May your day be filled with clear and timely introspection!
