Good morning!
We are now well into the year which makes it a great time to assess how well our New Year spiritual resolutions are progressing.
In past years, I often became frustrated with the lack of significant growth in my spiritual life and it was only after I got a revelation of the New Creation process (Spoken of in 2 Corinthians 5:17) that spiritual growth and noticeable maturity became a constant event.
Warning, it is possible to have a born-again experience (John 3:3) but still fail to renew one’s mind (Romans 12:2). This mistake prevents many Christians from successfully growing up in God.
We have to pay attention to the truth that obtaining Godly growth and change requires:
- The difficult task of killing off our old (carnal) self/way of thinking. (Galatians 5:24)
- Adapting to a new way of thinking and defending our growth daily against attacks. (Romans 12:2)
- Unfriending this world. (James 4:4)…a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Remember, achieving success with our spiritual plans and resolutions means we must take on and defeat the strongholds and habits in our life. This is a spiritual battle that requires God’s supernatural assistance along with our self-denial and self-sacrifice.
One more word to the wise, trying to achieve significant spiritual life change outside of God’s ordained process of change is a lesson in futility! (John 15:5)
Let us pray for God’s strength and help to strive for, achieve and maintain our spiritual growth through the rest of this year!
Have a blessed day!
