Good morning!
In many people’s lives, much of their happiness and security seems based on the comforts of life. In some instances, life’s level of satisfaction is equated with the number of things they find to fill up their lives. Including other people!
In reality, life’s true contentment only comes through Christ filling up our life, not things. The type of love spoken of in prayer in these verses speaks of the highest level of love that can bring satisfaction to our soul. However, it must be said there is a high cost to pay to obtain this prize. We can’t experience or even know this kind of love until without sacrifice. That sacrifice it to actively make our worldly pursuits secondary and make Christ (often secondary or worse) the primary pursuit. This takes dying to ourselves and yielding to Him.
The distractions this world waves in front of us will always compete to consume and steal as much quality time as possible from our relationship with Christ. But, when we learn to become spiritually sensitive to these worldly overtures (and deny them the time they request) and refocus on Christ (The proper adjustment), the Holy Spirit becomes better able to steer us clear of the subtle traps the adversary lays for us. In time, we become better at effectively fighting off those sins which continually try to make us stumble and fall.
Let us strive to seek the fullness of God in our lives daily. Allowing Him to search our hearts and scrub them clean of every interfering distraction that would hinder His ability to lead and direct us.
Praying that your day is filled with the power of His presence!
