A few years back my then eight-year-old grandson asked me if I’d like to hear his plans. After I said yes, he proceeded to tell me how he planned on being wealthy so he could help poor people by building hotels here in America and one in a poor country as well. After finishing those projects, he planned to pay someone $90.00 to build him a house.
It is easy to tell he was too young at that time to have an economic reference point about what it costs to construct buildings or homes.
We see in Matthew 6:26, a spiritual, economic comparison of how valuable we are to God. Just as my grandson lacked knowledge of Basic (101) Earthly Economics, many believers also don’t have a reference point for how much God values them.
As Adam Clarke says in his commentary, “If our great Creator has made us capable of knowing, loving, and enjoying such eternally, what may we not expect from him, after so great a gift?”
If you ever find yourself in a position of doubting God’s level of care and concern for you, strive to remember to not shy away from going back to basics (Spiritual Economics 101 – The Bible) and review how to again trust God at His word and to rest in His promises.
John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
May your day be busy with the basics of His love!
