Good morning!
Years ago, I was driving down the highway looking at those skinny-painted state highway lane divider stripes and reflectors. I thought about how we put so much confidence in these painted lines (sometimes faded) and small reflectors. However, as many know, this is the standard help roads have to help travelers navigate their pathways and arrive at their destination safely.
In reality, the level of safety brought about by these lines/reflectors when someone drives along the highway comes down to our willingness to use wisdom and sound judgment to stay within our lanes or how we eventually decide to change lanes.
These painted lines and reflectors can only show us the way. They cannot drive for us. We decide on the level of awareness we will use as we navigate our way down, over, and through them.
Similarly, the Holy Scripture in the Bible cannot make us adhere to what it says. The Bible lays out a guide, directing our travel along the path God would have us travel. It is a journey of a lifetime, where we can learn as we go about who God says we are. We will meet others along the way who are lost without direction and need our Godly help to clarify their travel plans.
Traveling successfully through life’s trials and tribulations will always require staying on the right path. It will take God’s word in conjunction with the Holy Spirit and the fellowship of others on this trek.
Remember, God can only assist us to the degree we allow Him to lead us. We cannot expect to make hasty, poorly thought-out decisions and get the best outcomes.
Let us strive to allow God to be the driving force behind any and every path we take.
Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
May the Spirit of our Lord lead, guide, and direct us down His chosen path this day! Amen!
