Good morning!
Tragically, there have been several severe flooding incidents in our area over the past several years. That has led many people to become painfully acquainted with the actions required to restore a home or business to its pre-flood condition.
There are no shortcuts in dealing with soaked cabinets, ruined sheetrock, warped flooring, etc. Very often, any item that gets soaked in putrid water must be discarded. The structure must then be properly remediated to prevent the spread of dangerous mold and bacteria from ruining the home structure and a person’s health.
In this verse, James states that “Every” Believer must remediate sin to protect their soul and earthen (home) vessel. That’s how we remain effective servants of our Savior here on earth.
James’s point is Believers cannot choose a shortcut when dealing with how the influence of sin is impacting them. They cannot expect God’s sanctification process to proceed with great success in their life when they take shortcuts!
Similar to materials in a home tainted by floodwaters, we too must address sinful influences that are attempting to taint our lives. If not, its putrid essence will hinder God’s Word from operating effectively in our souls.
Let us strive to let God’s Word perform a spiritual housecleaning within us. Allowing it to ultimately…save our very souls!
2 Corinthians 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
Have a wonderful day being washed (Ephesians 5:25-26) in the power of His Word!
