Good morning!
The problem with opinions is that…everybody has one! Here in Matthew 16, Peter gives his opinion about who the Messiah is. The way Jesus replies to his statement comes through as a direct spiritual revelation from God.
The disciples were aware people had many different opinions about who Jesus was. In reality, even today opinions about who Jesus is still vary greatly.
The opinions about Jesus (From His time to ours) still range from; He is a good man, divine, but not God. Or, He has become a God. He is John the Baptist risen from the dead. He is Elias, Jeremiah, a prophet, or even Beelzebub! And the list goes on and on!
Let us strive to overcome any questionable opinions we might have about Jesus. We can pursue and accomplish this quest through prayer, careful scriptural deliberation and Bible meditation, along with applying a measure of faith. We can also gain a clearer and better understanding of Christ when we put aside the many opinions of other people. People who very often have not conducted enough Biblical research to be able even form what amounts to a viable opinion on the subject!
John 4:42 – And they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this one is indeed the Savior of the world.”
Have a fantastic faith-filled day in Christ the Redeemer!
