Good morning!

As long as we walk this earth in its present form, we will face the temptations presented to us by this world’s systems.

Matthew 6:21 warns us against letting our hearts be overtaken by the “Treasures” of this world by mistakenly thinking they will bring us fulfillment and contentment.

Searching for fulfillment in this life outside of scripture often leads people to spend much of their life churning through all types of treasures. Anxiously looking for the next new thing to hopefully bring them that ever fleeting feeling of satisfaction!

Countless advertisers bombard us with promotions trying to convince us they can give us what our life is missing. Telling us new jewelry, perfume, clothing, cell phones, games, cars, boats, houses, or relationships is just what we need to be happy.

At least until the novelty wears off and a newer treasure (A New Temporary fulfillment) catches our attention.

1 John 2:16 – For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life —is not from the Father but is from the world.

Please know that I am not saying that earthly treasures are wrong. They definately help make our life easier and more enjoyable. The point of Matthew 6:21 is that we must avoid allowing earthly treasures to cloud our heavenly perspective. Because if we do, we will face trouble down the road.

Colossians 3:2 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Let us strive to make and keep God as our True source of contentment!

Luke 12:15 – Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
