Paul had a Spirit-infused gratitude that stabilized him no matter what storm came (imprisoned for the Gospel) upon him. He had developed an attitude of thankfulness that enabled him to endure even the difficult times in life.
This type of attitude of thankfulness should mark the life of every healthy, mature Christian. Charles C. Ryrie describes it as Christians needing to have a “Think and thank” motto.
Note: To be thankful even when in dreadful and dire circumstances requires one to have a Christ-like mindset.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
However, I must emphasize that acquiring and maintaining a “Think and thank” perspective doesn’t happen without work. Learning to develop a think-and-thank attitude will always require much effort. However, when we begin to adapt to this way of thinking (Renewing of the mind – Romans 121-2), it will help us for the rest of our lives.
Let us strive to take the spiritually necessary actions that will allow us to achieve a think-and-thank attitude.
Have a thoughtful and thankful day in the Lord!
