To Do… Our All?

Aug 29, 2026

Colossians 3:17 - Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Good morning!

Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers gives a very clear summation of Colossians 3:17.

There Ellicott states “the first principle and main objective of all godly life is not our own happiness or perfection, not the good of our fellow men, but the “glory of God”—and the carrying out of His will. This is what has to occur so we can manifest His moral attributes.”

We are being informed that when we first seek this, that allows other things to be added unto us.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Ellicott further states that “This is a principle, not only of a godly life but of the Christian life. It is a life in which all is done “In the name of Christ,” that is, as conformed to His image, and so being His representative; it enables us to look thankfully to God our Father.”

Remember, when we hold fast to this principle, our desire will always be to have God glorified, and that “He may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (1Peter 4:11).

Let us strive this day to combat each and every distraction that would prevent us from doing our all to the glory of God!

Have a terrific day in the Lord and in the power of His might!
