John Phillips states how difficult it was for an Old Testament Jew to forget God’s Word. “It was difficult because among other things, he was required by law to write Bible texts on the doorposts of his house.

Therefore, when he would leave his house, the texts he’d written on his doorposts reminded him: “Where are you going? What business are you transacting? Think about your conduct. Guard your conversation. Watch out for your character! Remember, God never sleeps.

Upon his return home, those same texts would be there to greet him with the same questions: “Where have you been? What have you been doing? Who were you with? Did you conduct yourself accordingly? You know God never sleeps?”

While it’s unlikely we’ll engrave scriptures at the entrance/exits where we live, we can do something even more effective. We can read and write the Word of God (Memorize) in our hearts. That way, it can be with us to remind us of those questions we should constantly ask ourselves as representatives of the Kingdom of God here on earth.

One more thing, Proverbs 3:3 is a command, not a suggestion!

Let us strive to write God’s word upon our hearts, giving the Holy Spirit proper building material to shape us and form us into the image of Christ.

Romans 8:29 – For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
