Good morning!

Today’s verse seems to be one of those scriptures that indicates how important it is to not just possess the light of God, but how we need to use it to assist those who are trapped and walking in darkness because they do not yet know Christ.  

Jesus gives us as Christians a great compliment and responsibility when He declares that we possess the light needed to perform His work on the earth (Ephesians 5:8 – For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light).

Daily, the news greatly reflects society as slowly crumbling. Things seem to grow darker by the day without His light.

Acts 26:18 – To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

As Christians, we are not to despair but know that the darker it gets, the greater our opportunity to reflect the light of Jesus to those looking for hope.

John 1:5 –The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

So what is our assigned duty/role in a society that is dark, jaded and so morally depraved that nothing shocks it anymore? We are to rise and recognize who God says we are (Isaiah 60:1- Arise, shine; for thy light has come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee) and light the way of escape for those who are hurt and stumbling through life with a sense of hopelessness.

Right now is the time to be letting our light shine!
